Yarrow, Elder and Peppermint Immune Tea

Yarrow, Elder and Peppermint Immune Tea

Yep tea has been used for centuries as a tea for the immune system

Herbal tea and infusions are greatly underrated as daily ritual for your health

Infusing tea into a large plunger or teapot and covering to allow the volatile oils to infuse into the water either overnight or for a few hours means the herbs can work their magic and produce a more therapeutic effect.

YEP stands for Yarrow, Elder and Peppermint

A little information about the herbs:

YARROW (Achillea Millefolium)

Diaphoretic - reducing fevers and has an affinity for aiding the respiratory and immune system when one is run down. Helping with cold and flu, asthma, rhinitis, bronchitis and influenza.

Yarrow is antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, hypotensive - aids in digestion, diarrhoea,  colic and dyspepsia as well as general indigestion

It was historically used for melancholy, purifying the blood and disorders of the kidneys as well as nose bleeds and migraine and as a mouth wash for ulcers.

ELDER (Sambucus Nigra)

Records of Elder use date back over a thousand years ago, I also love using elderberries in childrens gummies for immune health. In this case as an infusion or tea we use the flowers!

Elder is anti-catarrhal and anti-inflammatory as well as antimicrobial - flowers have been shown to inhibit some strains of Influenza.

With an affinity to the respiratory system it can aid in congestion of the lungs, influenza, dry throat and cough, sinusitis and nasal catarrh

PEPPERMINT

Known as a cooling carminative

Strong antimicrobial, antioxidant and reduces symptoms or spasms of the gastrointestinal tract - as well as the gall bladder and bile ducts. m

Aids in nervous tension and insomnia and vertigo.

We pair it with Elder and Yarrow for its cooling and antimicrobial effect as well as settling the tummy which can be a symptom when you are unwell.
